Three major extensions are under construction right now, all designed to serve Olympic venues.
D Line Extension
Purple Line to UCLA & Westwood
Extends the existing D Line from Wilshire/La Cienega through Beverly Hills to Westwood.

K Line Extension
Airport Metro Connector (to LAX)
The K Line (Crenshaw) is being extended to a new Automated People Mover at LAX, plus south to Inglewood's SoFi Stadium and Intuit Dome — the two biggest Olympic venues.

K Line
Take the K Line to the new Inglewood/Market station — walking distance to SoFi Stadium. New extension opens 2026.
B Line
Ride to 7th/Metro Center, then transfer to K Line heading south.
💡 Insider tip: The K Line extension is being built specifically for this venue. Expect heavy crowds — arrive 2+ hours before events at SoFi.

K Line
Same corridor as SoFi — K Line to Inglewood stations. Intuit Dome is just north of SoFi Stadium, within walking distance.
💡 Tip: If basketball and soccer events overlap, K Line will be at maximum capacity. Consider an early arrival or late departure window.

Get off at Pico station — 0.4 miles (650m) to Crypto.com Arena.
B Line
7th/Metro Center station is 0.6 miles (1 km) walking through Downtown. Or connect to A Line at 7th/Metro.
E Line
Pico station on the E Line is the closest stop — same as A Line platform.
💡 Tip: Best-connected venue on the network. All three major lines converge within a few blocks.

L Line
Take the A or L Line to Sierra Madre Villa station in Pasadena, then shuttle to the Rose Bowl (~3 miles / 5 km). Special Olympic shuttles will run.
💡 Tip: No direct rail to the Rose Bowl. A shuttle/bus bridge from Sierra Madre Villa is the plan. Allow 45+ min total from Downtown.

A Line
Ride the A Line to 5th Street or Long Beach Transit Mall station. The Convention Center is a short walk from the terminal stations.
💡 Tip: Long Beach has great walkability from the A Line terminus. Allow ~50 min from 7th/Metro Center downtown.

Smart Tips for Olympic Transit
Get the TAP Card
All LA Metro rail and bus uses the TAP card. Load it on the TAP app or at any station kiosk. Special Olympic day passes may be available for 2028 — check metro.net closer to the Games.
Arrive Early
Station platforms will be crowded during event windows. Plan to arrive 90 minutes before your event start. Trains run more frequently during Olympic periods but fill fast.
Know Your Transfer Hubs
7th/Metro Center (Downtown) and Union Station are the two main hubs connecting all lines. For most venues, you'll pass through one of these. Learn them before the Games.
Late Night Service
LA Metro typically stops around midnight–1am. Many Olympic events run late. Check LA Metro's 2028 extended service schedule — special late-night service will likely be added for event nights.
Accessibility
All Metro rail stations are ADA accessible with elevators. Arrive extra early if you need elevator access, as they may have lines. Metro's Trip Planner at metro.net/trip-planner filters for accessible routes.
Bikes on Board
Bicycles are allowed on Metro rail, except during peak commute hours (6–9am, 3–7pm weekdays). During Games, bike restrictions may be extended. Metro Bike Share docks exist near many venues.

How much does LA Metro cost during the Olympics?
A single ride on any Metro bus or rail line costs $1.75. A day pass is $5, and a 7-day pass is $20. TAP cards cost $2 at any station vending machine. LA Metro is expected to offer special Olympic passes — details will be announced closer to the Games.
Can I bring luggage on the Metro from LAX?
Yes. There are no luggage restrictions on LA Metro rail or bus. The Airport Metro Connector from LAX terminals to the rail network is designed for travelers with bags. During peak Olympic times, expect crowded trains — consider traveling during off-peak hours if you have large luggage.
Will the D Line (Purple Line) extension be ready for the Olympics?
The D Line extension to Westwood/VA Hospital is currently 72% complete and targeting a 2027 opening. This would provide direct rail service to UCLA, which will host the Olympic Village. The first phase to Wilshire/La Cienega is already open.
How do I get from LAX to SoFi Stadium?
Take the Airport Metro Connector from your terminal to Aviation/Century station (opening 2026), then transfer to the K Line heading south toward Inglewood. Exit at Downtown Inglewood station and walk about 10 minutes to SoFi Stadium. Total transit time is approximately 30-40 minutes.
Is LA Metro safe to ride at night?
Metro has invested heavily in safety improvements ahead of the Olympics, including increased LAPD patrols, transit ambassadors, and upgraded station lighting. Rail service runs until approximately midnight on most lines. During the Olympics, extended service hours are expected for venues with evening events.
Can I bring a bicycle on the Metro?
Yes. Bikes are allowed on all Metro rail lines at all times. Each rail car has designated bike areas. Metro also has bike share stations (Metro Bike) near many rail stations. During peak Olympic crowds, space may be limited — folding bikes are always welcome.
How early should I arrive at Olympic venues via Metro?
Plan to arrive at your Metro station at least 90-120 minutes before event start time during the Olympics. Trains will be crowded, and security screening at venues adds time. For opening and closing ceremonies at SoFi Stadium, allow 2-3 hours of total transit and entry time.
Which Olympic venues are NOT reachable by Metro?
Most major venues are Metro-accessible. Venues that require a bus transfer or shuttle include some events at Long Beach (rowing, sailing), Sepulveda Basin (archery), and Riviera Country Club (golf). LA Metro will operate dedicated Olympic shuttle buses to connect these venues to the nearest rail stations.
